JOTA 2017 im BrandMeister
Vergangenes Wochenende (20. – 22. 10. 2017) war JOTA 2017 angesagt, und für diese Aktivität wurden auch im BM weltweite Talkgroups etabliert, primär die 907, und als taktische Ausweichgruppe noch 9071 und 9072.
Was soll ich sagen – es war der Hammer! Der Namen „jamboree on the air“ war wirklich Programm. Ich hatte die Gruppen an unserem Repeater DB0FUE aufgeschaltet, und es war annähernd das ganze Wochenende Betrieb! Funkamateure aller Altersgruppen aus aller Herren Länder waren aktiv, Pfadfinder wie „normale“ Funkamateure, und vermutlich liefen die Lüfter der beteiligten Relais im Hochbetrieb, um den Dauertest für die Endstufen etwas abzumildern 🙂
Beeindruckend, wie selbst unsere eher kleine und überschaubare DMR-Welt von diesem Ereignis derart in Beschlag genommen werden konnte. JOTA2017 war definitiv in der Lage, zu zeigen, was der BrandMeister so kann, und wir vom deutschen BM262-Team wünschen uns mehr derartige Anlässe für Aktivität, soviel ist schon mal klar.
Wer natürlich die Gruppen nicht geschaltet hatte, der bekam von all dem Trubel nix mit – einerseits vielleicht schade, andererseits ist natürlich auch tagelanger Dauerbetrieb nicht jedermanns Ding. Aber genau das ist ein schönes Beispiel dafür, was ein Talkgroup-orientiertes Netzwerk zu leisten vermag. Verschiedene Verkehre sind optimal zu trennen und nach Belieben auf die beiden Zeitschlitze verteilbar, ferner kann man auch Konversationen gezielt am Gerät ausblenden und dabei dennoch auf Empfang bleiben. So tobt im einen Sprechkreis der Bär, und im anderen Sprechkreis ist normaler Alltagsbetrieb. Man hat immer die Wahl.

JOTA 2017 on BrandMeister
Last weekend the annual JOTA has taken place, 2017-10-20 to 22. For this activity some BrandMeister world wide talkgroups were prepared. Primary traffic showed on 907, and tactical groups 9071 and 9072 were established to sidestep if necessary.
What should I say – it was awesome! The title „jamboree on the air“ named it exactly. I made those groups static on our local repeater DB0FUE, and we had traffic for almost the whole weekend! Ham radio operators of any age from many countries were active, scouts, supporters and hams like you and me. I guess the PA fans really had to do some extra shifts to keep the repeaters cool 🙂
It was quite impressive that even our small and clear DMR world was overtaken by this event in such a manner. JOTA 2017 for sure was able to show that the BrandMeister can handle things quite nice, and we, the German BM262 team, would love seeing lots of such activity spots for the future.
Those who did not book those talkgroups of course did not notice anything – maybe a pity, but on the other hand not everyone loves to hear such traffic all day long. This is a great demonstration what a talkgroup centered system can handle. Different traffic occurrences can be separated clearly, they can be distributed over the timeslots, and it is possible to mute them selectively for still being available. In one talkgroup we have a great jamboree, and in the others the normal all-day traffic happens completely untouched. We have the choice.
